KAY AND GEOFF RYALL – Part-time consultancy with church groups in Bangladesh

“We want to move our work in Bangladesh to a new level of independence. The challenges are enormous, but the outcomes we are hoping and praying for are exciting as we progress into a new stage of partnership with our Bangladeshi brothers and sisters.” (Geoff and Kay Ryall)

Geoff and Kay worked in Bangladesh for 13 years with Global Interaction, before returning to Australia to pastor two churches in Melbourne. They rejoined Global Interaction in 1996, pasturing Gia Staff in Asia, and then moving into a special focus on Bangladesh in 2003. Geoff & Kay are currently back living in Melbourne, fulfilling a part-time role with Global Interaction in Bangladesh, supplemented by a part-time ministry in Melbourne. ‘The call of Bangladesh is still strong. After 120 years of history, work that is still in mission hands needs to be fully localised,’ says Geoff.

Geoff makes three extended visits to Bangladesh each year to encourage national church leaders, building on existing relationships. He is also working to assist community development projects build capacity and plan for the future so that they can be fully localized. Geoff undertakes Biblical teaching with the Garo Baptist Convention, Bangladesh Baptist Fellowship and development projects such as Prottasha. Whilst in Bangladesh he also oversees pastoral care of national leaders and Global Interaction staff; and continues to network with other agencies to ensure that our plans mesh with the current Bangladesh context.

While in Australia, Geoff continues to develop resources to help disciple the growing number of believers in Bangladesh. Kay’s behind-the-scenes role in supporting this ministry is vital. ‘We have always seen our ministry as a partnership,’ Kay affirms. That partnership, since they began with Global Interaction in 1970, has also involved churches and individuals praying for them and supporting them financially so that they can do the work they believe God has called and gifted them to do.
